Mangalore, Mar 22: Easter, the joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ was celebrated with great devotion in all the churches in the city amidst the threat of heavy showers on Saturday, March 22 evening.

People gathered in large numbers in the churches and participated in the Easter Vigil Masses on Saturday evening.

The depression in the Bay of Bengal brought heavy showers  to the district . But the rain thankfully showed respite in the evening.

Holy masses of important  feasts like Christmas and Easter are normally  celebrated in  open air to accommodate large crowds.  But this time the  threat of rains forced the priests  to celebrate the Liturgy inside the confines of the churches.  Elaborate stage settings and seating arrangements made outside went to waste.
