Mangalore, Mar 29: A trivial mistake in the past or present may make people pay dearly in the future, cautioned Shiva Rudra Maha Swamiji of Sri Beli Math Maha Samstana, Bangalore.

He was delivering his inaugural address at the All Religious Meet organized by Jammat-E-Islami Hind at Nehru Maidan here to promote peace and harmony in the district on Saturday March 29.

Religions can be tools of introspection which allows one to transform himself for the better. All religions preach on inculcating values of universal brotherhood, he added.

Everyone should imbibe mercy, forgiveness and other values in life and should rise above the level of misunderstandings, develop religious tolerance and respect for other religions. Everyone should be loyal to motherland and nation irrespective of their religions, he added.

Erya Lakshmi Narayan Alva, honorary president of the reception committee of the meet welcomed the gathering.

A peaceful rally and a peaceful protest from Central Jumma Mosque to office of deputy commissioner were held prior to the meet, flagged off by bishop Aloysius Paul D`Souza of Mangalore.

Organizers, volunteers of the Hind and others were present on the occasion.

Our nation, beloved nation I must call it, is an ICON to the world. Where else in the world such a co-existence exists despite the man-made religious barriers. This gathering not only is impressive example to the world but also a reminder to us that we as a diverse nation can succeed in unity.

Yes, there are elements of politics but we can overcome to this division only when we say "NO" to such division. Let our nation prevail, let our religion prevail but above all let our humanity prevail. I only hope by another decade we as Indians show the world that we are the folk all in the world should follow. Jai hind, a greatness of our times to live in harmony and peace and thats an impressive achievement of our beloved nation Mother India, Maha Bharat.

Good Move - But it is pathetic to know that these kind of programmes will not draw attention of major daily & medias especially in Karnataka. Thanks to Daijiworld for publishing the same. Keep it up.

An exemplary illustration of universal brotherhood sponsored by Mangalore unit of Jamaat-E-Islami hind. This programme is a living testimony which is endorsed by responsible and committed leaders of major faiths. All of us belonging to various faiths should indulge in serious introspection on the teachings of relIgion and commit ourselves for a peaceful society wherein humanity prevails all the time.

If everyone talks the same language of harmony and co-existence, why should there be riots and violence? The people who talk peace should be brought to the fore-front and those who preach violence and hatred should be shunned.
