13 killed in battle for control of Afghan district


Kabul, June 5 (IANS): Ten Taliban militants and three security personnel were killed in a clash for the control of a district in Afghanistan's Kunduz province, an official said on Monday.

The militants launched a coordinated offensive on Sunday to overrun Imam Sahib district, but their attempt was foiled by security forces, Xinhua news agency reported.
