Bengaluru, Jul 15: Karnataka chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah, has announced that a committee headed by retired IAS officer, Vinay Kumar, has been formed to look into the allegation of two crore rupees bribery scandal that had reportedly happened at the prisons department to provide undue facilities to beleaguered Tamil Nadu leader, Sasikala. He said that the committee has been asked to submit its report within a month.

The allegation of bribe was made by DIG (prisons), Roopa, which was promptly allayed by director general (prisons), H N Satyanarayana Rao. Roopa had alleged that two crore rupees had changed hands for providing additional facilities to AIADMK general secretary, V K Sasikala, who is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara jail.

At the same time, the CM said that a notice has been served on Roopa for violating the rule that high level officials should not make public confidential information relating to their departments. He said that Roopa had spoken about the alleged corruption case in the media and therefore clarification has been sought from her.
