Bangalore, May 8: Indian doctor Sabeel Ahmed, who was deported to India after serving 18 months in jail in the UK for withholding information about his brother Kafeel Ahmed's plot to blow up Glasgow airport, arrived in Bangalore early on Thursday morning.
Sabeel Ahmed, who arrived by a British Airways flight at 03.43 am, was escorted by two Metropolitan police officers from London.
However, he gave the slip to mediapersons who had been waiting for him since Wednesday night, as he was whisked away by security officials through the rear gate of the airport.
The media, which had also stationed itself before Sabeel's residence in Banashankari, an upper middle class residential locality in the city, was told by Sabeel's mother, Dr Zakia Ahmed, that the doctor was very reluctant to speak to them.
"I will try my best to convince him to speak to the media. It may take a couple of days," she told one of the reporters over phone.
A London court was told last month that Sabeel received an e-mail from his brother and details of his will before the attack.
The court held that he will be released from custody and deported to India because of the time he has already served while on trial.
Originally from Bangalore, Sabeel was arrested in Liverpool on June 30 2007.
