Mangalore, May 27: A group of 25 students have filed a police complaint against the franchise of one Institute of Computer Accounts (ICA) located on GHS Centenary Building in the City, alleging that they have been deceived by it.

The complaint is also against the two in-charge managers of the branch.

Speaking at a press meet here on Monday, students Rajesh, Prajwal, Prashanth, Uma Rao and Bhavani said they had filed a complaint in the Mangalore North (Bunder) police station and also with the Consumers’ Court seeking justice.

The students said as many as 45 students, including themselves, have paid Rs 23,000 each for a course titled Industrial Accountants last year, but the ICA has deceived them by discontinuing classes.

"For two months, the classes went nicely. But all of a sudden they were closed. When contacted, the head office located at Kolkata asked us to approach the zonal office at Chennai, and they told to contact the regional office at Bangalore.

Authorities in Bangalore office said they have closed down the Mangalore franchise 3 months back. And then only we realised that we were in a bogus institution," the students lamented.

"The in-charge managers who deceived us have now started another institute called ICAF at Crystal Arcade," they said and urged that the institute should refund their amounts and pay compensation for wasting their valuable time and money.
