Police deny permission for BJP's 'Mangaluru Chalo' rally, MP Nalin says it will be held as planned

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Updated

Mangaluru, Sep 4: The city police have decided not to grant permission for the much talked-about 'Mangaluru Chalo' rally planned by BJP Yuva Morcha to demand ban on PFI, KFD and SDPI.

The BJP had planned to hold its mega 'Mangaluru Chalo' bike rally on September 7, during which BJP workers, supporters and right-wing organizations were expected to arrive in the city from various districts in thousands. Mysuru BJP MP Pratap Simha had even come to Mangaluru and announced the same in a press meet, stating that Mangaluru was chosen as the centre as several right-wing youths had been attacked and murdered in this region.

In a statement to the media on Monday September 4, police commissioner T R Suresh said that as Mangaluru is a communally sensitive region, and in view of the recent incidents of communal violence that erupted in the district, the police have decided not to allow the Mangaluru Chalo rally as well as the public meet planned by the BJP.

"In order to maintain peace and in public interest, permission has been denied for the Mangaluru Chalo rally that was planned for September 7 by BJP Yuva Morcha," the police commissioner said.

It may be recalled that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had slammed the state government over delaying permission to the rally, and had demanded police security for the rally too.

Minister U T Khader on the other hand had urged the BJP to cancel the rally in view of maintaining peace in the district. SDPI too had urged the police not to grant permission for the rally.

We will go ahead with the rally: MP Nalin Kateel

Reacting to the development, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel hit out at the Siddaramaiah-led Congress state government and said that the permission for the Mangaluru Chalo rally was denied as Congress 'fears' losing the 2018 Assembly elections.

"The Congress is under a fear that it will lose the next Assembly elections in the state. Living in a democratic country, we have the right to protest. By denying us the permission to hold the rally, the Congress is trying to infringe upon our rights.

"We will hold the rally despite the denial of permission. We are ready for the rally and it will go as planned. Over 20,000 people will participate. If the government has guts, let it stop us," he challenged.

We have absolutely no need for "burning & destructive/hate-mongering MPs", either in Karnataka, or in far-away Delhi (India's national capital).

These two were denied a berth in the Union Ministry (Central Council of Ministers). It is better that they also be kept out of mischief, in peace-loving "Namma Karnataka". Let's all strive to maintain peace & prosperity in our beloved state.

As a MP, Kateel Kumar's performance is below average & no big achievement to point out. So, at least to be in limelight in front of party High Command, he wants to add 'Bike Rally' to his KPI !

Anant Kumar Hegde has already bagged ministerial post by spreading hatred... Kateel and Sobakka too trying hard, to follow him and get benefitted next time!

By the way, Kateel has already decide, he will carry on with his plan, even though permission is not granted by authorities. Then why he calls press meat? Let him do as per his wish.

He canned be arrested for these statements because they are provoking and unconstitutional.

He will pay compensation for the victims family ?

The government has taken the most correct decision to ban this rally. The purpose of this rally is only to create trouble in this region. All right thinking people will support the government's decision. These trouble makers think no end of themselves and it is high time the government dealt firmly with such people. Mangalore is a place known for communal harmony and we certainly can't tolerate these people out to vitiate the atmosphere. This should have been done long back but the government could not summon the necessary courage to take on these fellows due to which they have taken the government for granted. I am glad at least now the government has shown some spine. These trouble makers need to be told in no uncertain terms that they cannot have their way. A few misguided youth can't hold the city and the people to ransom. Enough is enough.

Not once twice Mangalorean voted MP Nalin to power who are know to be most educated class from the most literate district of Karnataka.
When it comes intelligence and smartness they lack completely to deliver.

This is the same party wanted to take funeral procession month ago for dead RSS cadre in specific route to create a communal disharmony. Now 'Mangalore chalo' to repeat the same result.

    Why the 'Mangalore chalo' can't be done for the below;
    Blood donation?
    Cleaning toilets in public places?
Cleaning Goshala and taking care of old cows?
Visiting patients in hospital and offering food and free medicine?
Clean the city to eradicate the threat of Dengue, Malaria, Filaria and Swine flu?

This MP is best know for making Dharna for compensation of his dead Sangh Parivar comrades. He is also first receive the NAMO founder Naresh from jail in RTI murder and participated in Havana.

How long Mangaloreans need to understand political motives the BJP? How many more death Mangalorean need to sacrifice to restore peace of those olden days? How many properties need to be burned to build smart city?

Is smart city lack smart people or wise thinking and intelligence?

Those who are in power have more responsibility. Here the district in charge minister himself does rally and says opposition are not required. Without engaging opposition parties who are in significant numbers, how he can bring peace ? He didn't even bother to call peace meet when DK was burning. The same congress tells centre to have dialogue with militants in Kashmir who are in few numbers and their days are numbered. Its a clear case of ego issue and someone has to loose to bring peace and I am sure this time he will loose and go to oblivion.

Now Congress has dismantled Lokayukta and created ACB chelas to give clean chit and already got many certificates from them for Siddu in Arkavathy, George, Meti, Kempaiah etc. Congress misused all institutions earlier to target opposition parties. Now they found a perfect match in the form of Modi who can give back in the same coin. And I am sure the same police will give permission for Peace rally for sickulars.

Freedom of rights comes with responsibilities too. One can not go on foul mouthing and barking like street dogs in the public and infringe on others rights. Also can not cause nuisance and hurt tax paying citizens. If one has grievance there are police, courts and their elected public representatives. Go there and solve your problems.

Bike rally will be held on the appointed date. If any one is having objection let them come on road and protest by blocking all the roads.

    People,

Freedom of Speech, movement and expression are enshrined in Constitution of India...with reasonable restrictions...

If Police Commissioner denies permission...this is a fit case to challenge in High Court...

What about Rai's peace (?) march on September 12th???...

Police should come out of colonial mindset....

Police are servants of people not their masters,,,,here they behave as if Siddu is their master....CMs will come and CMs will go...Police are answerable to Constitution Of India and rule of law....not Sidda, Pedda or Bidda!!!...

    ...JH...

We cannot blame DK police for anything..They are just helpless..being used by siddu govt for political benefit. We want peace in Manglore Udupi..Let police do their duty with free hand without any political pressure then automatically peace will prevail.

Primary function and responsibility Police are entrusted with is Peace, law & order.

BJP and Nalini Anna cannot and shouldn't dictate terms to Police. Would BJP take full responsibility
    for loss of Minority lives?
BJP's plan is to crush minorities - we saw that in Modi's Gujarat.

Karnataka should never allow Goonda-Rajya - lets play by the rules.
Lets protect all lives : Human and animal lives.
BJP cares about BJP and Gomatha - Nalinji! please know we're all Human and must be Protected from your Goonda March.
First go to Kateel and do your Pooja - Ask Durga Devi for her Blessings upon you and all Kannadigas and Rest of India.

    Jai Hind!!!!!!!!!!!
