Mangalore: Coastal Districts Erupt in Joy as BJP Assumes Power

Mangalore, May 31:  As the state ministry headed by BJP stalwart B S Yeddyurappa took oath at Bangalore with a promise to usher in new era in the history of the state, the joy of the BJP workers and supporters, who had assembled at the party office here knew no bounds, and they gave vent to their glee through carefree dancing. People were also seen bursting crackers and distributing sweets, not only near the BJP office but elsewhere in the city.

A decorated vehicle was taken through the city roads for announcing to the citizens the elation of the BJP supporters. The fact that two coastal belt legislators, Dr V S Acharya and Krishna Palemar besides Shobha Karandlaje who hails from Puttur but won from Yeshwantpur constituency, got the cabinet berths in the first BJP cabinet, added to their enthusiasm.

Kaup Block BJP activists celebrated as B S Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the chief minister of the state on Friday May 30 afternoon.  It was for the first time that BJP has been able to form the government in South India on its own.  BJP activists also celebrated in the induction of coastal belt leaders Dr V S Acharya and Krishna Palemar into the cabinet.

District Fishermen Forum convener Vijay Karkera, taluk panchayat member Jagdish Acharya, Arun Shetty, gram panchayat presidents and members of various villages across the district and large number of party activists were present on the occasion.

In Udupi BJP activists celebrated their party's coming to power by distributing fruits to the inmates of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, here on Friday May 30 evening.

Municipal council member Vasanti Shetty, Pradeep Kundar, Shyam Prasad Kudwa, city BJP Youth Morcha president Suvardhan Nayak and large number of party activists were present on the occasion.
