Mangaluru: Thieves burgle house, steal jewellery, cash from house in Suratkal

Mangaluru, Sep 15: Unknown thieves entered a house at Lecturers Colony, Bharatnagar,Iddya Suratkal and decamped with jewellery weighing eight sovereigns and Rs 7,500 in cash. The theft was committed in the house of Rajashekhar Bhat during late night on Wednesday September 13.

A case was registered in this connection in Suratkal police station. Finger print experts and sniffer dogs visited the spot. The thieves apparently opened the almirahs in a room adjacent to the bedroom by using the keys found there. After ransacking a bag, it was found, they had thrown the bag under a car parked outside.

It was found that the thieves had tied saris in front of the puja room and also by the side of people found sleeping, apparently in an at tempt to block their deeds from their view. Before entering the house, they had switched off street lights in the area. As the sniffer dog visited a neighbouring house and went around it, it is suspected that the thieves had visited that house. It is learnt that the thieves also made a vain attempt to open the gate of a house owned my Madhusudan near the gas godown nearby. This happened to be second theft in this colony during the last one year.

The thieves entered the house by inserting some long object from the window to remove bolt of the door. As the family members went to bed at around 12 am, it is believed that the theft happened between 2 pm and 6 am.

Police inspector of Suratkal station, Cheluvaraju, sub-inspector,Kumareshwaran and other staff visited the spot and guided investigation.
