Udupi, Jun 17: Various womens' organisations in the state have taken the issue of the mysterious death Padmapriya seriously and seem determined to reach to the bottom of the case.

Udupi:Women representatives belonging to various political parties and organizations from across the district staged protest in front of the office of the deputy commissioner here today, from 10 am to 12 noon, seeking thorough investigation into the death of Padmapriya. They observed a minute's silence in memory of the departed soul. At the end of the protest, they handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner Hemalata Ponnuraj, urging the state government to initiate an in-depth probe into the incident through the Central Bureau of Invetigation.

Bangalore: Relating to the incident, members of All India Democratic Womens Forum organised a demonstration at the State Bank of Mysore Circle in Bangalore, demanding the arrest of MLA Raghupathi Bhat and asking V S Acharya to resign as home minister. They also demanded for handing over the case to Central Bureau of Investigation. The forum state general secretary Lakshmi said, the fact that the MLA did not lodge any complaint with the police even after three days since his wife went missing, and confusing statements issued by the home minister, have given rise to multifarious suspicions.

Mangalore: Meanwhile, members of Dakshina Kannada Distrit Democratic Womens Organisation held a demonstration in front of the office of the deputy commissioner, Mangalore on Monday. They demanded that the case be handed over to the Corps Of Detectives for investigation.

Congress leader and party's state womens' wing general secretary Shyamala Bhandary, at a press meet convened on Monday at the Congress Bhavan in Udupi demanded for conducting a polygraph test on Atul Rao, who is facing allegations of abetting the suicide of MLA Padmapriya.

She accused the state government of failing to protect the life of the wife of a legislator belonging to the ruling party. We are witness to the manner in which Padmapriya worked for the victory of her husband during the recent election. There is a need to find out as to what caused her to undergo a change of heart so suddenly and  decide on committing suicide within a month from then. The way the case has been handled makes us to suspect the intentions of the government. Hence, a CBI inquiry should be ordered, she demanded.

Hallo Ajit, You don't know what you are talking about, if you cannot appreciate people's efforts to seek justice and answers to this misterious & innocent death, just stay away. You have no reason to say so, you lack commonsence. If this happens to one of your own, you will understand. Try to look beyond the bun, no women with 2 kids will commit suicite without a strong reason from her husband. Here in this case, her husband is the strong reason. I wish I were there, I cannot let the cat out of bag. When Politicians & Law protectors work hand in glove, people like Mr.Bhat can play with anyone. It is time for Bhat to come in the open and be man enough to tell the truth.

Statements by -suman pratap, doha Grace Mendonca, Shankerpura/Dubai Alex Saldhana, Udupi, VR Lobo Mangalore Joe Martis, Barkur/USA- were EXACTLY TRUE. it is certain that Late Padma didn't hang herself, instead it is a political Murder for the personal gain like her property, etc. H.M and the Police Dept.are in a hurry to close the case itself gives rise to suspicion. definetly some foul play is done, and the culprits whosoever should be punished. matter was handled most foolish, immature & unprofessional manner.

I am supportive to force CBI investigation,to bring out the truth and punish those responsible. Actually I myself and most of our class mates both (boys and girls) got shocked and hurt mentally by this tragedy. By imagining how much mental pain or harassment padmapriya might have had in those 4 days in delhi,..? It is easy to tell that she went by leaving- her family and two children… parents, brothers, and sisters. PRACTICALLY is it possible…? It is IMPOSSIBLE FOR A WOMEN(having 2-children) TO IMAGINE, to go like that in sound mind, by leaving all and going to an UN-KNOWN PLACE and LIVE ALONE. Definetly some one blackmailed, or kidnapped, took her property, done- some foul play ro fourced her to do suicide helplessly, and hilighted as SUICIDE. Plus harassments 24 hrs into 4-5 days with created stories.

I know her closely.in her 11 yrs of married life she did not came to public life. shemanaged family her childern, her in-laws, responsibly. Only in last election she was called to canvas on behalf of her husband. Whether her MLA husband don’t know that she needs security? Instead of giving security -he himself IGNORENT about her. The matter has to be handed over to the CBI immediately to bring out the truth, May her soul rest in peace.

Why all the people are very much interested in discussing others personal family matters? Sarvajna has quoted that each person should look after his / her own works, not others personal matters. There are many more good works to be done, not these types of protests.

I believe Govt & HM trying to fool people of the state giving different statements day by day , This case should be given to CBI to get clear picture what exactly happend either suicide or murder , we know police follow what ruling party says so its better CBI handles this case.

All the best to you all womens' organisation for your initiative to find out the truth. A precious life has been sacrified for political gain and it looks like the culprit has been given enough protection by the ruling party.

It is a clear case of murder, and our HM is trying to hide the realities which is quite evident from the contradictory statements he had issued during the past one week. The police force who was invloved in hunting Padma right from the day one, till her death has to be sacked immediately for their negligence.

The matter has to be handed over to the CBI immediately without any further delay to bring out the truth. My heart goes out to the two little angels who lost their Amma, the grieving mother and her two helpless brothers who have to keep their mouth shut and agree on what the MLA dictates them to say.

If the police is not able to protect the life of MLA's wife, what about the common people. It is high time, we all unite now irrespective of gender, religon and fight for justice to the grieving family and protection for common man in the State.

The awakening of women in Udupi and Mangalore districts following this abhorent incident is commendable. As we have in Australia, women must unite together to form self-help coalitions to protect themselves from harassment and domestic voilence, and protect their interest and feminine values.

These coalitions can provide legal aid and safe place for women seeking freedom from domestic voilence and attrocities. Furthermore, they can provide relationship counselling to couples, and communication skills and awareness of legal rights to young women. If women do not wake up, even the eight Goddesses in Udupi cannot help you. Be the Kali and Mahishasura Mardini to safeguard your interests.

Congrats Women - this is the spirit - let us fight against injustice - and bring to book the real crooks who are shedding crocodile tears at the funeral. They have deprived Padmapriya of living a peaceful life and have robbed two innocent children of their mother's love. May her soul rest in peace but surely not the souls of those who harassed her.
