Mangalore: John P Menezes Conferred Fellowship of Nautical Institute

Mangalore, Jun 19: Nautical Institute based in London which is a recognized professional body of qualified mariners and also other people having interest in nautical science, has conferred fellowship to John P Menezes, a Mangalorean who is ex-president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at Antwerp in Belgium on Thursday, June 12.
So far, the institute that aims at promoting skills, competence and knowledge relating to sea-bound crafts, has conferred fellowship to 19 of its members. Members of the institute are selected for fellowship based on their level of contribution to the nautical science and the profession besides towards the objectives of the institute.
Menezes already is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers London, member of Consulting Marine Surveyors and Consultants London, supporting member of London Maritime Arbitrators Association and member of London shipping Law Centre. He has worked in various positions right from a cadet to master in Scindia Steam Navigation Co and Wah Kwong Shipping Co Ltd, Hongkong.
He had settled down in Mangalore after taking over Ericson and Richards(Karnataka) engaged in surveying ships and conducting marine consultancy. He was actively involved with the successful rescue of M V Chang Le Men, a ship that was stranded in Tannirbavi beach in the year 2007.
