Mangalore: Padmapriya Death - Atul Rao Brought to City

Mangalore, Jun 19: Atul Rao, one of the key persons involved in circumstances culminating into the death of Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhats’ wife Padmapriya, was brought to Western range IGPs’ office on Thursday, June 19.
He was missing since the last few days and his wife Meera Rao had filed a habeas corpus petition before the high court, after the death of Padmapriya came to light. Later. the police had said that Atul Rao, who was in the custody of Delhi police had since been handed over to them and Meera Rao withdrew the habeas corpus petition.
Atul Rao was brought to the IGP's office from Delhi, via Bangalore at about 1.30 pm on Thursday.
Western range IGP A M Prasad told the press persons that Atul Rao was taken to Delhi alongwith the Karnataka police for helping in theirinvestigation. But now he is not in the custody of the Karnataka police, he clarified.
Meanwhile, he stated that no one has yet been listed as accused so far in connection with Padmapriyas’ death. At the same time, investigation will continue, he added.
Sources have informed, that Atul Rao has been provided with police protection. Meanwhile, the postmortem report will most likely be handed over to Delhi police, within 2-3 days,it is learnt.
In a recent development in the case, reliable sources have informed daijiworld that,Ragupathi Bhat has since lodged a complaint against Atul Rao in Udupi, so as to enable the Udupi Police to arrest Atul immediately.
