Mangalore, Jun 21: Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology (MIFT) managing director M G Hegde announced at a press conference held on Friday June 20, that MIFT has introduced, for the first time in the country, the BA degree course in security and detective science. This innovative course is being offered with effect from the current academic year itself, he informed.
The course, recognized by Mangalore University, works to hone the instincts and knowledge levels of the students having interest in this subject. There is bright scope for graduates in this subject, in the field of security management, which is facing a dearth of competitive, knowleldgeable and trained hands, he explained.
Subjects like human psychology, anatomy, geography, law, security management and detective skills will form the curriculum for the degree. This degree will be of immense help to those planning to apply for jobs in police services and other organizations dealing with security and intelligence, he noted. Those who have completed PUC are eligible to seek admission into the course subject to passing medical fitness and oral interview to be conducted by the college, Hegde narrated.
Head of department Vivek Vallabh, speaking on the occasion said, that the foreign investment and opportunities in this sector will get a boost once the GATT agreement comes into affect in 2010. Placement chances for the degree holders are ample in foreign investment firms, finance, mega industries, international hotels, educationsl institutions etc., he explained.
