Bangalore: Jayamala Elected KFCC President

Bangalore, Jun 29: Artiste and Producer Jayamala was elected President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) with a large margin of votes at the elections held in Bangalore on Saturday.
Jayamala is the first woman to hold the post of president of the KFCC in its history of 74 years.
Jayamala got 837 votes against senior producer Ba Ma Harish who polled 243 votes. Total valid votes polled were 1,080 votes.
As many as 1,123 members voted at the elections held from 1 pm to 5.15 pm, for different posts of office-bearers and executive committee of KFCC. The results were declared by the night.
The other office-bearers - V H Suresh of Mars Distributors as vice-president from distributors’ sector, while T N Venkatesh (Rockline) and S T Anand were declared as vice-presidents from producers’ sector and exhibitors’ sector respectively as nobody else had filed nominations. Sa Ra Govindu who owns Tanu Chitra was elected as Honorary Treasurer against K Janakiram of Bawa Film Distributors. N Kumar of Srilakshmi Films and K V Vijayakumar of Sri Vinayaka Film Distributors and Thomas D’Souza of Robin Theatre were elected as Honorary Secretaries from producers’ sector, distributors’ sector and exhibitors’ sector, respectively. Other 32 members were elected as members of the Committee, from three different sectors.
