Mangalore: 'Sodh' - Konkani Singing Talent Hunt Show Kicks Off

Mangalore, Jun 29: The second edition of 'Sodh', a singing competition to bring out the best singing talents among the youngsters, being organised by Mandd Sobhann at Kalangann, Shaktinagar in the city, went under way today. A total of 127 persons will put to test their singing talents today for the 'Rai Kogul' award for men and 'Rani Kogul' for women. Both these awards carry a prize of Rs 25,000 each besides gift hampers.
Out of the above, 50% will be eliminated and the balance successful contestants will move on to the next round of the competition scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 5.
Namma TV partner Suresh Rao Kokkada and Joel Nelson D'Souza, station head of 93.5 SFM jointly inaugurated the event in a unique way by inserting the record into the gramaphone and turning it on. Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, president Louis J Pinto, Konkani Writers forum president Dr Edward L Nazareth and Mandd Sobhann committee members were present.
Joel Pereira, Edith D'Souza and Eric Ozario are officiating as judges for the competition.
Arun Raj Rodrigues and Melita Pinto compered the programme. In the first edition of 'Sodh', the Rai Kogul title was won by Amith Menezes while Ammabel Moraes had annexed the 'Rani Kogul' award.
