Bangalore, Jun 30: Twenty Capuchin Brothers   were ordained deacons on Sunday June 29 during the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore.

Brothers Claud Mascarenhas, Prashanth Kumar, Cyril Anand Periera, Sunil D’Souza, William Prabhu, Gabriel Fernandes, Fransuinho Gomes, Sebastian Kinny, Ashok Brahmanne, Robert Gonsalves, Thomas Fernandes, Roland Bendoamar, Wilson Pegado, Brian Bandya, Victor Bandya, Paul Mashi, Fulgence Majhi, Mukti Prakash Tete, Anil Kullu and Suresh Kerketta received the ordination to diaconate.

It was a great day for the Capuchins to thank and praise the Creator as so many young men came forward to dedicate themselves to the Lord   and to His people by living a simple and humble life in the footsteps of their founder St Francis of Assisi.

Fr Vincent G. Furtado, Provincial of Holy Trinity province Karnataka thanked the Archbishop for his availability to confer on these brothers the grace of Diaconate. Fr Anil Sequiera, Rector of Darshan Institute of Theology, Bangalore praised the parents and relatives for sacrificing their sons for the very cause of the Lord.

Brothers from the Capuchin theologate under the baton of their Scripture professor Fr Salvador Fernandes enhanced the solemnity of the occasion with their melodious choir.

I is indeed a great and wonderful crop. The Capuchin Fathers have done a lot for our community. Many people remember this great order because of their Monastry in Feringepet. The Fathers at this venue are known for their charity. Theirs is a selfless service to mankind. I have known a number of priests from this well known order and without exception they are blessed with humility of mind and heart. May these twenty deacons lead the way and may they make great contribution to our society. Joe Gonsalves
