Bahrain Plans Grand Welcome to Dr Veerendra Heggade

Manama, Jun 30: The Executive Committeee of Kannada Sangha, Bahrain, under the Chairmanship of Austin Santosh, in a crisp ceremony at their premises on Friday, 27th June, 2008, released the Entry Passes for the “Sambhrama 2008” program marking the visit of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, a well known Educationist and Social reformer from Karnataka State in India.
“Sambhrama 2008” will show-case a grand cultural program of sing, song and dance performances from local artistes at the Al Raja School premises and the highlight of the day would be a scintillating Yakshagana stage performance by a specially flown in troupe from Karnataka.
The Entry passes were released in the presence of main Sponsors, MORE calling cards head of retail sales, Mr. Jubin Koshy, as well as the Managing Director of Al Fahad Services and Manpower, Sudhakar Shetty. Kannada Sangha President, Austin Santosh, Vice-President Ramesh Manjeshwar, General Secretary Anil Bhasagi, were present at the dais.
A warm welcome is being planned for Dr. Heggade and his troupe visiting Bahrain in a “Poorna Kumba Swagatha” cultural style, typically with colorfully dressed ladies carrying the “Kallasa” (bronze pot), a traditional welcome that is a hallmark and passed on to the present day from the ancient Kannadigas.
This will be a major event for the Kannada Sangha this year, and is expected to draw record crowds from the Karnataka hinterland to meet and honour the popular and revered Dr. Heggade who is visiting the island for the second time under the auspices of the Sangha.
