Bangalore, Jul 1: Chief Minister Yeddyurappa is all set to open an NRI Cell headed by MLC Ganesh Karnik. The Cell aims at co-ordinating with non-resident Indians who are keen on investing in Karnataka and float joint ventures.

Sources in the secretariat said a lot of investment can be brought into the State provided there is a person to co-ordinate with NRI entrepreneurs. When pointed out already such a cell  under the banner Karantaka Diaspora Cell exists, the officials said that they had no clue about it “But an NRI Cell will be established”.

However, the government has not yet notified the appointment of Capt Ganesh Karnik.

I agree with Mohandas. How about making the NRI cell responsible for solving the problems of NRI's like in Kerala & to some extent in Goa? The govt. remebers NRI's only when they want investments. What about the other NRI's who cannot do large investments in industries. Who is going to solve their problems?

I fully agree with B. G. Mohandas, Dubai. No Government has come forward for the needs of NRIs or NRKs. Many politicians came to Gulf countries and made many promisses only to collect gifts and donations and as soon they reach back they have even forgotten that they have visited the Gulf countries, forget about the promisses made.

I am not saying we should not invest but atleast recognise us what we have done and still doing by giving foreign currency. Also do we have any voting rights. We are considered that we are second citizens. The Government thinks us only when they need the investment otherwise we are considered as step Indians.

Though we Gulf Kannadigas are very happy positive decision of Karnataka Govt...the reasoning for establishment of such a cell is dismaying. Are we NRIs or NRKa are only here as investors ?!. Are we all so rich and have plentiful money as the Govt assumes?.

We are doing yeomen service by just sending Millions as remittance and most of NRKa who are based in the Gulf have their family settled in native place. Are we not entitled for any other special services apart from just investment and remittances??.

Dear Sirs...wake up to our needs which are Plentiful....Reservation in Professional education to our children, End service benefits when repatriated, Insurance coverage, Subsidised housing plot allotment, Subsidised housing loans, Transferring the dead with all the respects, Help & Care to our family who live alone .. Etc
