Bangalore, Jul 1: The newly inducted director general of police(DGP) and inspector general Srikumar announced here at a press conference held on Monday June 30, that his immediate goal will be to ensure a safe and strong and secure environment in Karnataka. The most important goal before my department is to transform Karnataka into an orderly and safe place to inhabit, he stressed.

Steps have been initiated to upgrade the second rung cities like Mangalore, Bidar, Gulbarga and Belgaum which are witnessing a fast growth, to the police commissionerate level. These cities can expect good news very shortly, he said. Proposals with recommendations to open police commissionarates at these places have already been forwarded to the government and final decision might come any time now, he explained.

Our first preference will be to eradicate terrorism, which is very much necessary to convert the state into a safe habitat. The department will be looking forward to full cooperation from the people of the state to make this happen, the DGP stated.

Efforts are also being made to strengthen the anti terrorism squad and we have taken up the steps needed in the direction of equipping the force with manpower and other requirements including infrastructure. Experienced and intelligent officers will be posted for the intelligence wing, he narrated.

Terrorism is a global phenomenon and Karnataka is not an exception and our state is comparatively a secure state. Assuring the people coming forth with information on terrorist activities that they can rest assured that their names will not be divulged at any cost, he requested the people to extend a helping hand to the police department on this front.

Srikumar also pledged to extend full cooperation and assistance  to the operations being launched by the Lokayukta police. If the Lokayukta raids residences or offices of corrupt officials of our department and provides us with a report about any illegal activities and possession of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, the department will not hesitate in intiating legal steps against them, he added.

I am in favour of launching an all out war against corruption. I promise to extend full cooperation to the Lokayukta on this front. As far as corruption cases are concerned, I will never wilt under pressures and will intiate stern steps against the guilty. The department supports peaceful protests that the people undertake to assert their rights. However, if they resort violence, they will face tough measures, he warned.

I also aim at transforming the image of the departing into a people-friendly one, aiming for general welfare of the people. The department will extend a helping hand to common people. I am sure, that all the officers and employees of the department will help me in reaching this goals, he hoped.

Additional DGP(intelligence) Shankar Bidri, DGP (fire brigade) Jija Harisingh and other officials were present at the press conference.

Please note DGP Shreekumar as Mr. Rahul said you must try to teach all your staff to attend the Customers with a pleasant service. It is called Customer Service. Do not look or treat the complainant who is happended to be your customer and the accused with a rude attitude.

Learn to give respect to others so that you all get back the respect with the interest back. At the end one need to see the happy faces of the public.

Second thing is you and the Lokayuktha must eradicate the corruption in the Revenue Dept all over Karnataka Taluks. Survey, Registration / buying / selling etc. This is a special type of corruption well planned and organized. Further information, please contact Local document writers or Lawyers who handle this type of cases. Let us hope for a clean corruptless environment.
