Udupi, Jul 9: Meera Rao, wife of Atul Rao, the prime suspect in the Padmapriya case, has alleged that she and her whole family have been subjected to mental agony by MLA Raghupathy Bhat, even as the matter is in court.
‘We had no known enemies so far, but now we need protection for the entire family since it’s unfortunate that the supporters of MLA Raghupathy Bhat are taking law into their hands as the court proceedings related to Padmapriya’s case are underway,’ alleged Meera.
She also pointed out the role of supporters of Bhat in pressurizing the doctors at two well known private hospitals, to deny Atul Rao the best medical care during his acute bout of asthma. She added that it was a tragedy that she had to appeal to the court seeking adequate health care for her husband.
Meera, her two children, and mother-in-law Usha Rao, are residing at the HUDCO housing colony, located at Doddanagudde near here, and have been provided police protection.
