Mangaluru: Founder’s Day celebrated at Lourdes Central School

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Lourdes Central School celebrated its Founder’s Day on Friday, March 9. The school honoured founder late Fr Bernard L D’Souza.

Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, manager, Fr Robert D’Souza, principal and Belita Mascarenhas, vice-principal were present. The programme began with a prayer song led by the school choir invoking God’s blessings.

Shreya of class VI-B welcomed the gathering. Saloni Rodriguese of class X- A enlightened the gathering on the importance of the day. She stated that late Fr Bernard D’Souza was a great visionary and aimed at giving quality education to the students to make upright citizens and able leaders for the country. Saira Pinto, a pioneer staff enlivened the golden memories of Fr Bernard D’Souza.



The manager, principal, vice-principal and the head girl paid homage and respect to Fr Bernard D’Souza by lighting the lamp, garlanding the portrait and offering flowers.

Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza in his address reminded the staff and students of the vision and mission of Fr Bernard D’Souza. He said, “Late Fr Bernard D’Souza was a great visionary and an educationist. His philosophy was work is worship. He had tremendous faith in God and he combined work with faith and established so many education institutions. Wherever he went, he saw and conquered. He was an embodiment of wisdom, vision and dedication; he believed that nothing is impossible. He was a trend setter; he set trends and brought them to perfection.”

Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza requested everyone to pray that the sweet memories of education and commitment may be imprinted in the hearts of all the Lourdites and all those who come across him.

On this occasion, the winners of Lourdes Olympiad, traffic awareness collage, quiz competition and NASO were honoured by Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza. Anika of class VII-C rendered the vote of thanks.

On this memorable day, the school also celebrated the Club Finale. The students of class VI performed a graceful dance and the students of theatrical club presented a mime act depicting the vision of Fr Bernard D’Souza for every Lourdite. There was an attractive exhibition of variety of items from Art Club, Craft Club, Needle Work Club, Robotics Club, Numismatic Club and Astronomy Club. Students of all classes viewed the exhibition.

The programme was beautifully compered by Sparsha Malli and Moulya Rai under the guidance of Dilla Colaco.
