Mangalore, Aug 19: Bishop Henry D’Souza of Bellary was felicitated on behalf of Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education on Monday August 19.
Bishop Henry D’Souza who was the founder-director of Sandesha, while acknowledging the felicitation expressed his happiness on the growth of Sandesha. “Sandesha is speaking now and many are listening to it,” he exclaimed.
An institution should not become an island. It should be like a garden with its own identity. Dreams are not enough, ever going activities and the ability to deliver them is the need of hour, he opined.
Speaking on Bellary diocese, he said that although the diocese has not witnessed incessant rains, the rivers that flow in the region carry the floods from other regions. There are only a few MLAs in this district who are politically powerful enough to control the entire state. The diocese has nearly 70 per cent of mineral deposits in the state, which yields nearly Rs 15,000 crore to exchequer. It is significant that only 150 people have control over that income, he added.
Meanwhile Konkani devotional CD ‘Divya Chetana’ was released on the same occasion. Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore presided over the function. Fr Valerian Mendonca, director of Sandesha, was present on the dais.
