M’lore: Police Arrest Protestors DYFI, CPI (M) Workers - Situation under Control

Mangalore, Aug 20: A few DYFI and CPI (M) activists were arrested near service bus stand when they tried to stage protest on the road.

The protest was staged to oppose the anti-labour and anti-people policies of the union government, as part of the nation-wide bundh. Hundreds of DYFI and CPI (M) workers came hit the road to protest against the union government. But the police resorted to mild caning and dispersed the protestors. Police also arrested few of the protestors.

DYFI state president Sunilkumar Bajal, district president Muneer Katipalla, CPI (M) leader B Madhav and others were present during the protest.

Though the private buses have stopped plying after the stone pelting, KSRTC buses are plying in the city as usual. Even the rickshaws are also plying without any obstacles. Autorickshaw drivers are busy making some profits, utilizing the non-availability of public transport.

    While every citizen has the right to protest, no one has the right to damage either public property or private property. I thought that there is a law where the party which calls for bandh has to pay for the damages. Besides any harm/hurt done to people should also be compensated. I wonder as to how many pregnent women must not have reached the hospitals on time. How many school children must have been forced not to go to school.

    How many marriages must have been celebrated without the invitees. How many funerals must have suffered for want of paying the last respects.How many ... the list goes on. I wish to know how much price has come down after the bandh!I wish to vote for the party that can say in their manifesto that they will neither call nor participate in any bandh for 5 years whether they are in the government or not. If their members call for the bandh or participate in them, the party should have the courage to expel them, even if they are in high posts.Some states or some districts or towns should declare one year as NO BANDH YEAR!

    Don’t we have a law to keep all the goons under police custody, whenever we expect some trouble which puts public life at risk? My understanding was that CPI (M) is filled with civilized members, but I was wrong. Perhaps they hire goons for making their protest dangerously successful one

    Never before in the history of M'lore especially for the past 4 years(during thier tie-up with UPA)did CPM protest against Central Govt's anti labour and anti people policies.Now they have been frustating for not having power to fool the people.What the CPM are doing now,they should have done it during their tie up with UPA.

    Why to shedding the crockodile tears now.Ok let them protect for the cause but not damaging the public property.They recklessly damaged 8 buses in M'lore today morning injuring so many people.Then what can the police do?Good thing all these things are under control now.Hats off to the police in M'lore.

    Why this protest? I think its because they are not in the government. Now they dont know what to do after Dr. Manmohan Singh won the trust vote. Mr. Shirish, I think you are not aware whats happening in Kerala.Here the people are only caned and in Kerala CPI workers do all kinds of attrocities. You just visit Kerala once. You will have a better picture.

    Another bundh and many more to follow.Nation wide bundh's like these cause losses worth a few thousand crores of rupees collectively. In the end, who is paying for all this - the common man.The bundh was in protest against rising costs. This bundh will definitely result in living cost going up further!.

Well, if these cops are interested to restore law & order then why do they have to only arrest CPM guys after all these folks are only protesting anti-labour and anti-people policies not creating a rift between communities unlike their rightwing counter parts who go on a strike at the ' drop of a hat'. It appears that this caning of DYFI, CPI (M) Workers is done at the behest of the ruling BJP..?? It appears that the ruling party is very keen on caning the left wing activists huh????
