The great Visveshrayya built great KRS dam and still its serving without any problem.with serious note I am mentioning not only the dam underquality work.the construction of fly over on NH 48 also going to be disastourous when it will  be  ready.

You can see every where on nh 48 incompleatet work which is contributing rusting of steel.which can cause serious damage to the ductility of the pillars. This is the time for the officials to wake up and save the country.

It is true that the Shamboor hydel power project began three years ago and on the process of completion now. The results affecting the ecology and the village is visible in the pictures here. The land was acquired without revealing the features of the project.The major portion of land they bought was totally agricultural. The land owners where called for a meeting at local panchayat office and then for a so called negotiations where the price was decided the by the influential people who made these land owners as scapegoat.

Each land owner was given money and two houses built by the project developers to move them from the project area. The people who attend the meeting for the compensation was not represented by any expert in the damage repair control measuers.They were invited to come and sign the documents to claim the value of the land. Till date, the people of shamboor have no information about the features of this power project. And no such court orders passed to approve the deal to acquire the agricultural land. The Hydel project owners were authorized from the central government who acquire, build and transfer or sell the project are totally a business affair between the big players from Andhra Pradesh who came to shamboor and acquired hundreds of acres of agricultural farms and started polluting this village. They used dynamites to break the rocks beneath sacred nethravati river. The tremors have damaged houses, temples, church and the ecology of the nature. On this process of construction, they used the single narrow road from NH48 at Pane-Mangalore to shamboor which further goes to Balthila and connect NH 48 at Dasakodi near Borimar.

The entire stretch from Pane-Mangalore-to shamboor was ruined due to the heavy trucks and engines moved to the site through this road. The local political parties did noting but only showed enemity each other on silly issues and never interested in looking at the basic issues of safety of the project and safety to people who reside nearby the Hydel project. During Mid of June 2008, there was no bus transport possible on this road and people suffered a lot as the chikengunia was spread all over and people could not go the city to take medication on time. There are reports that, the company who built this Hydel project will be selling it to the highest bidder and the people of shamboor have to run from pillar to pillar if anything goes wrong with their safety in the village.

There could be excess floods and can damage the crop in the monsoons and no such provisions available to claim damages. The state and central government will come up with strange projects now and then because they are approached by influential rich businessmen who want to invest in our villages with less compensation .They get approvals to pay minimum price for the land at the value fixed by the corrupt officials at the land and revenue departments.

It always happens in india they build brdges and dams with good intentions but due to corruption these projects die in the birth stage itself, and no action is taken against the corrupt officials involved in such disasters

There should be some panel who could check these big blunders. India at one side wants to boast become a super power by 2025 but are not able to construct a damm of a small size. How are we to master huge projects.

There should be someone to investigate this blunder and take the responsible constructers/politicians who mis-uses the taxpayers money for their own benifits. Thank you, Wolly James

I Still beleive that these projects are better than allowing the flow of water(Natural Resource) to sea. But build the damms with Good Steel/Concrete and Good Engineers. and Build Resorvoirs to divert the excess water. Thanks, Theo.
