Bangalore: Former Minister Channigappa (JDS) Slams Gowda Sons, Joins BJP
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)
Bangalore, Aug 22: "The self-styled 'sons of the soil' have been hatching well-planned conspiracies against me, for having joined the BJP and strengthening the hands of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa," alleged ex minsiter C Chennigappa, who was considered very close to the ex-chief minister H D Kumaraswami when JD(S) was ruling the state.
He was speaking to the media persons, before the inauguration of 'Dr Sri Shivakumara Swamiji Engineering College' which he has set up at Byranayakanahalli Palya in Nelamangala taluk of Bangalore rural district on Thursday, August 21. "Those who have been claiming to be the true sons of the soil, have been involved with deceiving people since long. I will never yield to pressure tactics employed by them," Chennigappa announced.
The caucus which ended the political future of state stalwarts like Ramakrishna Hegde, J H Patel, Y K Ramaiah, Byre gowda, Nage Gowda, Chandre Gowda, Nanje Gowda etc., are now planning to target me. While I deserted the JD(S) because of H D Deve gowda, G T Dege Gowda inspired me to join the BJP, he added. He also swore to prove his worth in the coming Lok Sabha election.
I am not afraid of the political gimmicks of these sons of the soil. I am not a hard core politician, but the son of the people of the state. I vow not to bend to the wishes of these people who are ready to stoop to any level. I spent 26 years of my life, serving the top family of JD(S) and also the party, losing my health in the bargin, he claimed. Ex minister G T Deve Gowda is my leader. I will take further decisions on my future political strategies, as per his guidance, he said.
My detractors have also fed wrong and false information to the media, and many things have been written about the college I have set up here. I have not annexed any government property. Published reports alleging that I have encroached upon the spot from where river Arkavati originates and also the tank bed nearby, are factually wrong, Chennigappa explained. Saying that he in fact, had given 23 gunts of his own land for the tank, he said that he was prepared to face any inquiries and punishment if he is proved guilty on these counts.
Chennigappa also spelt out plans to provide free admission, education, hostel facilities etc., for the poor students who score more than 80% marks and who furnish certificates about their family status from the deputy commissioners of the respective districts.
Chairman of Karnataka Housing Board G T Deve Gowda who was present on the occasion, called upon the Vokkaliga community to join the BJP in large numbers and strengthen the party. We will prove that Vokkaligas are given prominence and respect in the BJP, he stated.
