Mangalore: Students Celebrate Onam with Grandeur at SDM

Mangalore, Aug 30: The students of SDM College celebrated 'Onam' festival in its grandeur here on Friday August 29. The programme started with welcoming 'Mahabali Chakravarthi' to the stage.
Advocate CH Kunhanbu, in his inaugural speech said, "Onam is not confined to Kerala only. It is being celebrated all over the world where Keralites live. Onam is the only festival celebrated with great happiness by Keralites."
MLA Ramanath Rai opined that lifestyle of Karnataka and Kerala has influenced each other. There is similarity between folklore and festivals of both the states.
Prinicipal BK Ravindra, in his presidential address asked the students to exhibit unity in all the academic activities of the college as it has been showed in the celebration of various feast within the college campus.
Prof Sushma welcomed. Manikrishnan proposed vote of thanks.
The college premise was decorated with flowers and 'Pokkalam' rangoli. Decorated elephant was center of attraction at the campus premises.
