Kolar, Sep 18: Though no untoward incidents have taken place after a grotto belonging to St Mary's Church near Mekke circle here was damaged and desecrated by miscreants on Wednesday September 17, situation still remains tensed. One armed police person has been deployed on the spot.
A peace meeting was held in the city on Wednesday evening which was attended by members of all religions. During the meeting, a dalit community member reportedly blamed Bajrangdal for the attack on grotto. This enraged the Bajrangdal members who demanded immediate action against the man. But the situation was brought under control.
On Thursday September 18 morning, Bajrangdal staged a protest in the city during which a symbolic effigy of New Life was burnt. The protestors also demanded that all the madrasas functioning in the district should be closed.
Later on their way back as they reached near the church, they started shouting slogans against the church and conversion. Though this could have worsened the situation, police managed to keep things under control.
Daijiworld correspondent also said that Muslims have organized a protest in the city on Thursday evening condemning Bajrangdal atrocities.
