Dammam: MDH Al Khobar Wins Shirva Summer Cricket Cup

Dammam, Sep 20: Shirva Welfare Association, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, successfully conducted the 3rd Shirva Summer Cricket Cup, featuring 16 local teams from Damamm, Al Khobar and Jubail played at Kanoo Ground facility.
In the finals MDH (Mohammed Dossary Hospital) Al Khobar defeated Falcon Cricketers. Won the toss and elected bat first MDH started the innings with their regular openers Naseem and Mazhar who contributed 29 runs in just 3 over. Subsequently, in a span of two over MDH lost 4 wickets and were down by 5 wickets on the score of just 39 runs. Then Captain Rizwan with his valuable 16 runs and Yaseen boosted their innings of total score to 85 runs in their allotted 10 over.
On the chase, by Falcons frontline batsmen failed to stay on the crease with crumpled batting display and falcons lost five wickets on the score of 20 runs. With the loss of frontline batsman Falcons middle order came to the rescue and accelerated the score. But the day belonged to MDH with good bowling , fielding and catches, MDH restricted Falcons to make only 70 runs and went on to Win the 3rd Shirva Summer Cricket Cup – 2008. All-rounder Mazhar Khan of MDH was judged as the Man of the Match for his excellent batting, bowling and fielding performances.
Prior to the big finals MDH defeated Colts Crickets by 16 runs in the first Semifinals. MDH batted first and scored 70 and Colts Cricketers could manage only 55 runs in reply. In the second semifinals Falcons defeated Strickers by 8 wickets. Strikcers batted first scoring 83 runs and Falcons easily achieved the target with 8 wickers in hand.
After the finals, Prize distribution function was organized, in which Zubair Ali, Treasurer, welcomed the Guests and gathering and also presented detailed activity report of Shirva Welfare Association and about 3rd Shirva Summer Cup – 2008.
The special awardees: Man of the tournament Shadab Azmi of MDH for his excellent batting and bowling, Best Batsman: Imtiaz of Strickers, Best Bowler: Naufal of Falcons, Best Wicketkeeper: Mazhar of MDH and best out filder: Dr. Rizwan of MDH.
Karim Gurani of Kanoo – President of Dammam Cricket Association and Imtiaz Hameed, President of Srilankan Sports Club, in their brief speech and praised the efforts taken by Shirva Welfare Association for the cause of community.
The Chief Guests, S. Salman and Mohammed Hanif Patil, awarded the trophies to the winners and runners-up.
Shabber Shaikh – President of Shirva Welfare Association presented momentous to the invitee Guests and appreciated the efforts of all members throughout the tournament.
In the last, Mohammed Siraj, proposed the vote of thanks and thanks to all those who rendered their help and support during this tournament for the benefit of poor and needy people of the costal village in Mangalore , Karnataka,
