Bengaluru/New Delhi, Jun 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday June 13 accepted the fitness challenge posed to him by cricketer Virat Kohli and posted his own fitness video.
Taking to Twitter, Modi posted the video showing him meditating, walking on a track inspired by five elements of nature, and doing yoga exercises. He then passed on the fitness challenge to Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, table tennis player Manika Batra and IPS officers.
In the one-and-a-half minute video, PM can be seen wearing a black tracksuit, walking on a track created around a tree, doing stretching exercise and sitting on a rock for meditation. He is also seen balancing himself while walking on a narrow, circular track.
Modi tweeted, "Here are moments from my morning exercises. Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises."
In another tweet, he said, "I am delighted to nominate the following for the Fitness Challenge: Karnataka’s CM Shri @hd_kumaraswamy. India’s pride and among the highest medal winners for India in the 2018 CWG, @manikabatra_TT. The entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40."
Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy responded to the challenge without outrightly accepting it. "Dear @narendramodi ji. I am honoured and thankU very much for d concern about my health. I believe physical fitness is imptnt for all&support d cause. Yoga-treadmill r part of my daily workout regime. Yet, I am more concerned about devlpment fitness of my state&seek ur support for it (sic)," the Karnataka CM tweeted.
Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli had challenged Modi with a fitness challenge last month and the latter had replied on Twitter that he will soon upload his fitness video. "Challenge accepted, Virat! I will be sharing my own #FitnessChallenge video soon," the PM had written in May in reply to Kohli's challenge.
The fitness challenge was first started by union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore. Reacting to the PM's fitness video and the challenge, Rathore told reporters, "PM always talks about fitness of the youth so that they can take our country forward. There are few Prime Ministers who would share such videos. There's positivity in this campaign and it is non-political."
