Mangaluru, Jun 14: Former MLC and BJP leader Capt Ganesh Karnik on Thursday June 14 accepted his defeat in the just-concluded MLC elections and said that he respects the mandate of the people.

Addressing a press meet here, Capt Ganesh Karnik said, "I thank all the BJP representatives and the leaders for campaigning for the MLC elections. There were 12 candidates in the fray from southwest teachers' constituency. Compared to previous elections, I have got 2,500 more votes this time in the first preference counting. The difference was only about 897 votes between me and JD(S) candidate Boje Gowda who got 6,241 after the first preference counting."

He further said, "In my last 12 years of service, I have worked for the welfare of teachers and tried to sort out their problems as per their expectations. They stiil face several issues such as appointment of guest lecturers, differentiation in salaries, new pension schemes, less salary for guest lecturers and many more. I urge the winning JD(S) MLC Boje Gowda to undertake the problems of teachers and work to sort them out in the coming days. Kannada medium schools lack students and some schools face shortage of teachers especially in the coastal region. This issue also needs to be discussed."

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath and others were present.

    There are two types of Commissions in the army:

    * Short Service Commission(SSC)
    * Permanent Commission (PC)

    The absolute minimum service required is in SSC, and that is 10 years.
    (More details: http://joinindianarmy.nic.in/alpha/types-of-commission.htm)

    But check out Ganesha's resume. It shows that he retired from the army within 5 or 6 years.

    Did the man really serve in the army? What is he "Capt" of?

    Karnik joined the Indian army in 1981, and served as a commissioned officer along the North-East and the western border of the country. After completing his contractual period of service in the army , he got a voluntary retirement from the Army in 1988 as a Captain.

    Dear Captain of Yale University team you got what you deserve a big “0 “you do not get marks for DK BURNING /attacking BIRTHDAY PARTY celebrations / PUB Attacking / INFILTRATION of police and converting them to chedi police .

    Learn to be human, learn from people who built Mangalore regardless of which religion or party he is from, LEAVE BEHIND A LEGACY, not destruction, not a bad reputation.

    If one brought Konkan railway, another brought development to south Mangalore some brought hospitals and others laid the foundation for banking.

    Ask your conscience what legacy you left behind, and your conscience will tell you the truth if you really have one or taught right.

    If you are calling yourself Captain than be the best, lead by example so that hundreds of years from now generations will remember you.

    "Aloha "

    Mangaloreans call themselves educated and D.K is called buddhivantara jille.Hard to see where this so called 'Buddhi' goes when electing people's representatives. All we have is an MP who wants to put fire to the place from where he was elected. Sad state of affairs..
