M’lore: Mahendra Kumar Still in Sub-jail - Chikmagalur Court Issues Arrest Warrant

Mangalore, Sep 22: Though the city court granted bail to Bajrangdal convener Mahendra Kumar, he was held up in sub-jail here as the Chikmagalur court issued arrest warrant on him on Monday September 22.
Mahendra Kumar was arrested in the city on Saturday September 20 as he confessed of Bajrangdal's involvement in the series of attack on churches across the state. He also revealed that the Bajrangdal has further aimed at several centers involved in religious conversions.
Earlier, the city court rejected the bail plea of Mahendra Kumar on Saturday September 20 by postponing the hearing on Monday. The court here granted bail to him on Monday as hundreds of Bajrangdal activists and supporters waited in front of sub-jail at Bejai to welcome.
Meanwhile the Chikmagalur district court issued arrest warrant on him in connection with the recent attack on church at Balehonnur, under its jurisdiction. He will be produced in the Chikmagalur district court on Saturday September 27. His further plea for release will be decided on the same day, sources said.
