Mangalore: Central Team Visits City - Collects Information on Police Atrocities

Mangalore, Sep 23: A team of senior officials from the centre, deputed by the ministry of home for assessing the situation in the state, visited the churches in Karnataka on Tuesday September 23, in the wake of the continued attacks on Christian institutions in the state.
Central home ministry special secretary (internal security) M L Kumavat is heading the team and joint secretary (human resources) A K Yadav is assisting him.
The team visited the bishop's house, Kulshekar church, Adoration Monastery near Milagres Church and Permannur church. The team collected information about the atrocities committed against the Catholics by the police. The religious heads and also the lay people of the Catholic community gave them a detailed account of the attacks on the churches and the atrocities faced by them later. The videos of the police atrocities were also submitted to them on the occasion.
The team also visited the police officers who led the police teams that are facing allegations of committing atrocities on the Catholics in Milagres, Kulshekar, Vamanjoor and Permannur. Later the team proceeded to Udupi.
