Dubai, September 25: Members of ‘Fatima Maiecho Suvad’ (Famad Pernal) in the U.A.E. celebrated the traditional Nativity Feast on Friday, September 19 in a traditional manner.  The family atmosphere with a unique 13-course meal including 'Patrode' and 'Allum Dente' along with veneration of Maria Bambino was held at Dubai’s Richmond party hall.  High voltage music by 'Rhythms' as well as enthralling dances and skits by 'Pokri Pernal' were added attractions of the event.

The event took-off at 7.00 pm with a touching prayer by Juliana Mathias. Vincent Lobo, president of the association welcomed the gathering and called upon members to be united and in-touch with the parishioners.

Veneration to the statue of Monthi Mai was conducted with the singing of 'Sokkod Sangatam Mellyam' by Rhythms.  Ladies and children offered flowers to the statue of Maria Bambino. Sharon Lobo, daughter-in-law of Pernal’s Helen Lobo who is the latest addition to the family of Pernalites deserved the traditional respect of bringing 'Novem', the Blessed New Corn who entered along with a troupe of traditionally dressed Famad Executive Committee.  Helen Lobo received 'Novem' from the daughter-in-law and presented the sari, maintaining the real sense of a family tradition back home.  'Novem' was then distributed to all.

Chief guest of the event was Lancy Madtha of Integrated Freight and Logistics.  Speaking on the occasion, he praised the unity and efforts of the members who always show-up in large numbers and support the organization with such a great spirit of love and solidarity.

Dionysius Correa, a senior member of Famad Pernal received the honour of this year’s ‘Vinchnnar Pernalgar’, an annual award conferred on a member for his outstanding contribution towards the association.  Dony Correa conducted the award ceremony and read-out a detailed profile of Dionysius Correa.  Mrs Madtha bestowed this honoured by presenting a shawl and a citation. Vincent D’Souza and Treeza D’Souza were present on stage and presented flower bouquet.

The entertainment session included the rest of the proceedings, part of which included a few Konkani and Hindi filmi dances.  'Pokri Pernal' the culture-wing of Pernalites presented some hilarious skits.  The in-house music band 'Rhythms' music troupe kept-up the tempo of the entertainment with some wonderful singing.

A delicious, 13-course traditional meal was served on banana leaves on the floor.  Along with variety of vegetarian delicacies, Vorn, Patrade and Allum-Dento were served.  As usual, all the items were prepared at home by members of the association in order to keep up the spirit of family festival. Earlier, Sunil Castelino honoured the contributors to the event.

More than 140 Pernalites from all over the U.A.E. celebrated the event like a family.  Extra flavour was given to the entire day by new but delightful emcee duo Edwin Mahias and Preema Mathias.
