Mangaluru, Jul 20: Retired vice-chancellor of Hampi University, Prof B A Vivek Rai released 'Nannoligina Naanu', the autobiography of statesman, leader backed by impeccable virtues, and former minister for higher education late B A Mohideen at Town Hall on Friday, July 20.
“It gives me immense pleasure to release B A Mohideen's autobiography 'Nannolagina Naanu'. I have shared great bonding with the veteran leader and shared a stage with him in programmes earlier. He was a great thinker and this 232 pages autobiography has mentioned about his days with other leaders and his ups and downs in his political career. He was a leader who built good relations with all the other community members. B A Mohideen has written very honestly in his book about his journey and will be an inspiration for all,” Rai said.
Former chief minister Siddaramaiah said, "I could not believe when I heard the news about B A Mohideen's demise because he was very healthy when I met him at Ujire recently. He invited me to this book release programme and also asked me to be a part of his book release at Bengaluru. I did not agree to take part in Mangaluru event but I assured him to attend the release of the book in Bengaluru. After his demise, to pay a tribute to him, I decided to take part in the release programme at Mangaluru.
“B A Mohideen was a selfless leader. Even though he belonged to Muslim community, he earned the love and respect from other community members as well. Mohideen was inspiration for all. He has also mentioned about me in this book and about the recently concluded elections,” he added.
Siddaramaiah said that Mohideen in his book has mentioned how Hindutva and false propaganda became a reason for Congress not getting majority and how dangerous communalism was. “He was in pain and that pain is seen in this book. B A Mohideen always prioritized on maintaining harmony. He also mentioned that in politics no one is permanent friend or enemy. He always followed the ideologies and principles in which he believed in. We would be paying the best tribute if we follow his footsteps,” the former CM said.
Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar said," I was very close to B A Mohideen, who was like a family member. B A Mohideen had a philosophical mind and he always guided me in my political career. He was a leader who earned love and respect from all.”
