Belagavi, Jul 25: What could be the best way to get potholes filled? In Belagavi, a 29-year-old has found a unique solution, which made civic authorities hurriedly fill potholes.
Varun Karkhanis, a videographer by profession, placed an inflatable boat in a huge water-filled pothole at Sanchayani Circle. Not just that, he also composed a song and shot a music video titled ‘Khadde Baar Dena’ which translates to ‘fill up the potholes’.
Karkhanis satirical punch at the civic issue became viral garnering more than 16,500 views on Facebook. It also put the civic agency officials of Belagavi’s Municipal Corporation on their toes, who have fixed the pothole at Sanchayani Circle the very next day.
Varun is elated that his satirical video brought about a positive change and has commended the civic authorities for the speedy redressal.
Varun says that most of Belagavi’s roads are crying for repair. “The CBT Bus Stand road is in a pathetic condition and commuters find it challenging to travel on pothole-riddled Congress Road, Dharwad Road, APMC Road, College Road,” he told media.
Meanwhile, after Varun’s video went viral, the potholes on Congress Road have also been fixed and the civic authorities have assured to repair other roads at the earliest.
Varun made the video along with group members Rakesh Nandgadkar, Sandeep Palankar, Kishor Singh Thakur, Pooja Oza and Anant Honnannavar. The lyrics are sung to the tune of the famous Spanish dance song 'Macarena' released in 1993.
