Protesting employees in Kishtwar threatened with sacking

Jammu, Jul 30 (IANS): The administration in Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday served termination notices to 41 protesting employees engaged under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Officials said the employees have been asked to join duties within two days, failing which their services will be terminated.

"All of them are working as contractual employees and the notices served against them meet all the parameters laid down in engagement orders," an official said.

Kishtwar is not the only district in the state where such employees are carrying out protests seeking better terms of employment.
