Mangaluru, Aug 6: A massive campaign has been launched on social media against Dakshina Kannada BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel by the opposition and the general public for his failure to complete the projects that are underway in the district.
Nalin’s own party activists are also said to be involved in this campaign.
The main opposition is the much-delayed Pumpwell flyover project which was launched 8 years ago.
In a campaign named 'Nalin Kumar Kateel Hatao', the netizens have slammed the MP and have asked the people not to vote for him if he is given ticket this time.
Protest by Congress on August 1
Interestingly, the BJP supporters themselves have opposed him to be the MP candidate and have been asking people not to support him if he is given ticket. They have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to field him for polls.
The angry netizens also conducted an online poll asking the people whether they want a new candidate or Nalin Kumar as the next MP. In the poll the netizens have voted for the new candidate instead of the present MP who failed to deliver the promises during his tenure of 10 years.
The BJP supporters too have trolled Nalin Kumar Kateel for his failure to complete two key projects – Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers. They have said that when a strong leader like Narendra Modi is leading the nation, a district which consists of educated people must elect an efficient leader instead of Nalin Kumar Kateel who has become the laughing stock for his recent statements on various issues.
The BJP activists have also blamed Nalin Kumar for not taking them into consideration and disrespecting them.
It may be recalled that the Congress leaders including former MLA J R Lobo held a protest against Nalin Kumar Kateel for the delay in two key flyover works. The public too have lashed out at the MP following several road mishaps occurring in the area due to incomplete road works.
Meanwhile, after facing criticism from various corners, the MP had recently assured that the works will be completed by next January.
