Cabinet clears proposal to allot land to Chandigarh Housing Board


New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS): The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to allot land to Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) for construction of apartments for 3,930 allottees under Self-Financing Housing Scheme for UT Employees.

An official release said that Chandigarh Administration had approved "Self-financing Housing Scheme - 2008" for its employees and 73.3 acres had been earmarked for construction of 3930 dwelling units.

It said that 1.8 acre was already in possession of CHB, the nodal agency to implement the scheme, and 61.5 acre is to be allotted to it.

The release said that draw of lots of the was held in 2010 in which 3930 eligible applicants out of 7811 were declared successful.
