Mangalore, Dec 27: A team of students belonging to a college run by a  private education trust in Mangalore had planned an excursion, starting from here late night on Friday December 26. Some miscreants attacked their bus near the Kannur mosque in  Adyar, a little distance away from the city, injuring the bus driver and a few of the students.

A group of about 20-25 men, who arrived by two-wheelers and auto rikshaws, stopped the bus on the highway. At first, they pelted stones at the driver and damaged the bus, before beating up a few students travelling by the said bus.

About 35 students including a few girl students were on their way to Bangalore for their annual excursion. Reliable sources informed daijiworld, that the students were attacked, as boys and girls belonging to two different religions were travelling together, and the attackers suspected it to be a fun ride.

The bus was partially damaged and the driver escaped with minor injuries. A few students also suffered minor injuries, an eye witness said.

Of late, groups who have taken upon themselves the task of ‘moral policing'  have become active in the city and surrounding areas. This is the latest addition to a number of such incidents which take place here regularly. The self-styled moral police groups suspect that boys and girls belonging to different religions meet together just for roaming around and dating publicly.

A case has been registered in Kankanady police station.

The management of the private college to which the students belonged, was not available for the immediate comments.

Why are you people excited. These incidents have been happening all the time. Since evertbody is more interested in the relegion of the attackers or the victims rather than the nature of the atrocities these things will continue. I wont be suprised if girls in mangalore will be attacked for wearing trousers.

The College students should arrange the same excursion again to Bangalore with police protection. Students should learn to protect themselves from these low class goondas, or else, people will be living in a "Goonda Raj"

This is lack of Education and Knowledge. Catch the culprits and send them to schools, educate them basic values of Human behavior, Society, Culture, Value for life, Value for property and Value for others emotions, religion and a clear conscience. To be able to do this The state administration needs to know and be able to differentiate between good and bad behavior. The root cause of all this seems to be a culture of violence and hatred in the political circle. Today election rallies preach no growth plans they only point out t the failures of the other party, accuse the other party of doing something wrong, of doing something which caused the disaster…. The political rallies do not say what and how they would have done right, what and how they would have developed and progressed. It is essential to cultivate good image, positive feeling and all that could be done right than showing all that is not right in others all that is not good in others and so others need to be punished, others need to be taken to task. This ill feeling and hatred that the political parties that preach and very often use religion as a base to criticize and glorify the wrong ideologies… Politics needs to be away from the young, away from religions, away from state civil administration, away from security, away from culture and away simple people who have no time to fill their stomachs and who would be doing injustice to themselves and to society at large if they get into politics. Politics is not what we see today being practiced, going after others lives, property and existence. Politics should be a tool to serve the society. Which exactly goes to say the positive… IF THIS PARTY COMES TO POWER WE WOULD DO IT THIS WAY, WE WOULD DO SUCH AND SUCH SCHEMES AND WE WOULD NOT ALLOW SUCH VIOLENCE OR WOULD NOT ALLOW SUCH ILLS. If such a promise is taken or a attitude is adopted then there can be a follow up to measured action and measured development and measured reduction social ills and measured education and society will soon be without such criminal acts and so called moral police groups emerging to control, to teach a lesson and to challenge the OTHER PARTY, OTHER GROUP, OTHER REGION, OTHER whatever but us… Hence education is key to development and educated persons will make calculated decisions and will lead the nation to a educated, calculated growth path and the result could be expected that one day the village, state, nation and the world could be a better place to live. Hence, the point is if the youngsters are involved in the acts of violence then catch them re-engineer them, educate them and use them to do better things than let them off to do greater harm to society. If the adults are involved in the acts of violence then do everything to keep them out of politics and keep them out and from doing more harm.

The law and order situation in and around Mangalore appears to be deteriorating day by day. Anti social elements, miscreants, hooligans and goondas are having a very nice time freely trying to enforce their own version of the law. The district authorities, politicians and the top police officials appear to be in a deep slumber and are squarely responsible for this sorry state of affairs.
