Mangalore, Feb 1: The ‘Children’s Festival-2009’ was inaugurated at Rosario Hall, on Sunday February 1 by Hilda Rayappan, director, Prajna Counseling Centre.
The festival has been jointly organized on the theme ‘To build a child-friendly society’, by Prajna Counseling Centre, St Joseph’s seminary, and the children’s welfare committee.
“Most children hesitate or fear to say what they want. So, this festival is to help them express their wants and dislikes”, said Hilda Rayappan.
A group discussion has also been organized for children as part of the festival.
A resolution will be prepared based on their opinions and it will be given to the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district to implement it in schools, so as to make children good citizens, said Hilda.
There are 40 groups of children from various schools in the district, participating in this festival. An exhibition of paintings has also been arranged here. The children also participated in various skill games conducted by resource persons.
