New Delhi, Mar 14 (IT): Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday slammed Rahul Gandhi for criticising the Modi government over China opposing the move to ban Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar.
"Rahul Gandhi, you can't decide foreign policy through Twitter. The foreign diplomacy is a serious issue which cannot be determined through tweeting," Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Ravi Shankar Prasad was speaking at a press conference in New Delhi.
On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Weak Modi is scared of Xi. Not a word comes out of his mouth when China acts against India."
Ravi Shankar Prasad criticised Rahul Gandhi for not knowing how to behave or what to say in diplomatic matters.
"Rahul doesn't read much. We had hoped with so much experience in the Congress party, he would've been given good advice on foreign matters," he said.
Ravi Shankar Prasad also said that in 2009, China had placed the same technical hold during the UPA government's term. "Did you comment then?" Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Rahul Gandhi.
He also said that Rahul Gandhi's tweet must be the headline in Pakistan today.
"I know that makes you happy," he said.
Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi claimed to have great relations with China.
"On Doklam, you spoke to Chinese envoy. Chinese officials wanted to see you off during your Mansarovar visit. So, why didn’t you use that proximity to persuade China to take a stand against Masood Azhar?"
"We would have liked that too," Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
