Robbers loot Rs 5 lakh cash, jewellery in Ghaziabad


Ghaziabad, May 3 (IANS): Three men allegedly robbed Rs 5 lakh cash and ornaments from a jewellery shop in Ghaziabad on Thursday, a police official said.

The police said at around 7:30 p.m. three men with faces covered and pistols in their hands barged into the jewellery shop in Pratap Vihar under the Vijay Nagar police station. Shop owner's son Ankit Verma was attending two customers at that time.

The robbers had first snatched Ankit's gold chain decamped with all the jewellery and cash available in the shop.

When Ankit raised an alarm and someone informed the police. "We are studying CCTV footage, will soon arrest robbers," said Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar.
