New Delhi, May 23: The Lok Sabha elections spanning seven phases for over a month ended on Thursday May 23 with the ruling BJP-led NDA coalition scoring a resounding victory, practically trouncing all the opposition parties in its march to form the government once again.
Narendra Modi is all set for a second term as the Prime Minister. He also won Varanasi by a margin of over 3 lac votes. For the Congress though, it was a bad day at work, with the party president Rahul Gandhi losing Amethi and winning Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi's loss broke the 39-year-old Congress ties with Amethi. The BJP also made inroads into Mamata Banerjee's West Bengal, and saw an outstanding performance in Karnataka where Congress-JD(S) coalition is presently in power.
