Mandya: Role reversal - Bride ties customary 'Taali' around groom's neck

Daijiworld Media Network - Mandya (SP)

Mandya, Jun 6: Everyone knows that usually there is chaos and confusion on the dais where marriage rituals are performed with umpteen instructions and guidelines flying between the priests, elders in the family, videographers, and others who feel they have knowledge about how things should be done in a marriage. In such a situation of utter chaos in this town, a bride tied the all-important 'Taali' around the groom's neck. The 'Taali' which announces the marital status of the wearer, is always tied by the groom around the bride's neck.

The video showing this aberration was gleefully captured on video and streamed through the social media. It has become viral now.

In this hilarious video, the priest can be seen holding the Taali in his hand, and handing it over to the bride after chanting hymns. The bride was expected to hand over the Taali to the groom. But in a moment of utter confusion, she tied it around the groom's neck. The priest who was taken aback, can be seen telling the bride that it should be the other way round. He then got the Taali untied and asked the groom to tie it around the bride's neck.

The priest who solemnized the wedding, the boy's as well as well as the girls' parents, elders on each sides, the ones responsible for the 'match fixing' are often remembered ( not very fondly though) in
not so pleasant exchanges between the couple in the years to come.
This is known as the 'Common Phenomenon'....
The root cause of this 'Common Phenomenon' is not known or not yet discovered.
Anyone who knows this 'Root Cause' can explain here
