Indian democracy strengthened by poll verdict: Modi

Colombo, Jun 9 (IANS): Indian democracy has been strengthened by the sweeping mandate in the general elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Sunday, adding that democracy is a part of Indian culture.

"The results of the Lok Sabha elections are a matter of study for the world as to how mature Indian democracy is. We have seen people's respect for democracy and their commitment to it," Modi told the Indian community in Sri Lanka gathered at the India House.

He said that although the Indian elections saw a lot of attacks and counter-attacks among the rivals, Indians became one "from Kashmir to Kanyakumari" once the vote count was over, triggering applause in the crowd.

Stating that women voters turned out in record numbers, Modi said: "The message of this election is that as a democracy we have matured. Democracy is our tradition and there is democracy in our culture."

The Prime Minister also appealed to the diaspora to contribute to India's development.

"We have to take the country forward together. We have to increase the pace of development. We will try to fulfil the dreams of every Indian. You also contribute to India's development."

India's image, he said, had changed a lot in the last few years.

"I have been travelling around the globe and have never come across any complaint about Indians residing in various countries. This is due to Indian culture and tradition.

"Today India's image in the world is getting stronger. A large part of credit for this goes to the Indian diaspora. Wherever I go, I am told about the successes and accomplishments of the Indian diaspora," Modi said.

The Prime Minister later shook hands with many members of the Indian community.

The 2019 parliamentary election mandate is shrouded in suspense, mystery, uneasiness, and unhappiness among a large section of the people in the country. The clean sweep by the BJP is not accepted by many people and there is a clamor all around, that the BJP has won the polls through EVM manipulation calling the new government as EVM Sarkar.
There are also reports that some 20 lakhs EVMS are missing from the custody of the Election commission from a period of almost one year. There are videos evidence of EVMs were found in the hotel rooms, brickyards and old factories, etc and the accountability of all such missing EVMs is on Election Commission. However, the Election Commission has never come out with an answer that how many EVMS are missing and how many have they recovered. In such case of stoke silence by the EC on such serious issue, the people of India are unhappy about its role and duties.
If we go through the website of the Election Commission it’s found that there is a big mismatch between the “votes polled” and “votes counted.” This is a huge discrepancy is witnessed in over 370 constituencies. For instance, in all the 48 Parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra and 203 assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh, there is a mismatch in the votes polled and the votes counted.
Is it a coincidence or malfunction of the EVMs that seven contestants in 2019 General Election have won their seats with the same margin of votes. Bhola Singh, Menaka Gandhi, Upender Narshigh, Harish Dividi, Satpal Singh, Sangh Mitra Murya, Kunwar Bhatender Singh have won by identical margins of 211820/ 140295.
    1. Why hasn’t ECI answered simple scientific questions about EVMs rejected by the West?
    2. Remember, we are buying our CPU chips from Japan and USA, who are envious of our Vedic science and technology. The simple question is, are we saying that those who give us ROMs and chips have no capability to develop a safe tamperproof EVM, or even copy our machines?

Secular democracy weakened and destroyed. Communalism strengthened and won. A real truth. A single person responsible for this, talking of democracy after elections.

Don't artificially grab credit for democracy by voters. It is EVM culture that is strengthened. There was real democracy practiced before 2014 with secularism. You hide behind EVM mandate and say people's mandate. If you are so confidant of winning elections in any conditions and you have full people's mandate then show your 56" chest guts with ballot paper or 100% VVPAT counting. You Dare??????....
