Bangalore: Talks of Congress-JD(S) truck takes wings again

Bangalore, Jul 20 DHNS : The forthcoming by-elections to five Assembly segments has once again sparked speculation in political circles about the possibility of a pre-poll alliance between the Congress and the JD(S) to counter the BJP.

The recent bonhomie between the Congress and JD(S) seen in the Legislature session in taking on the ruling party has added credence to the two parties coming together in the electoral battlefield. JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy was little more forthcoming on Sunday, than he was on the previous day, on such a tie-up.

“It’s for the Congress to realise the importance of the alliance,” Kumaraswamy told reporters.

No official word

In another part of the town, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President R V Desphande said that there was no official word from the JD(S). However, the Congress would make all efforts to ensure that the secular votes are not split to the advantage of the BJP.

A meeting of state party leaders and district presidents of the constituencies going to the by-polls, has been convened on Monday evening to discuss the preparations for the polls, the KPCC president  said.

Party observers for Kollegal, Govindarajnagar and Channapatna Assembly segments have filed their reports and the same would be discussed at Monday’s meeting, he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP on its part will hold its election committee meeting in Bangalore on Tuesday to shortlist candidates. The chief minister is also scheduled to hold a consultation meeting with party leaders on Monday evening. The candidature of C P Yogeshwara (Channapatna) and V Somanna (Govindarajnagar) is almost certain, sources added.

It is the right time to Congress leaders to set aside their egos and join the hands with JDS. By this both can win all the five seats. Otherwise JDS can win Ramnagar & Channapatna seats and in other three seats BJP will easily win. For Congress again big "0".

If congress and JD(S) want to join hands let them set aside the egos and not make it a prestige issue. It is time that they try to understand each and work in unison for a common cause. In the long run what people want and need is a good government - a government where people will work for the State and not for themselves. Joe Gonsalves

Right now, both congress & JD-S in Karntaka are truckless. With their present leaders, the tyres of their trucks are punctured. If they go on like this, congress stands no chance at all in Karnataka in any elections. BJP will win all elections, without any doubts.

How many political parties were in operation when India got independence? India will break the world record in the number of political parties, because the politicians had no problem to get followers due to the fact that the electorate never gave any serious thought about their political march behind a leader. Now, as more people are educated, they are thinking in terms of their own security and economic progress. With this new mindset, many parties will have to make fast decisions to merge with other national political parties for mere survival. In the future, if somebody thinks that they can make a party and get into political career very easily, those days are gone. Before the next national election, the number of political parties in India will be considerably decreased, also many of them will be disappeared from the list once for all.

BOTH JD(S) & CONGRESS LEADERS ARE HAVING EGO & ARE EXPECTING REQUEST FROM OTHERSIDE. IF THEY WANT TO FIGHT TOGETHER AGAINST BJP LET THEM COME OPENLY IN ONE DIAS & MAKE A STATEMENT THAT WE ARE TOGETHER. NO, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. BECAUSE ONE IS CONTROLLED BY HIGH COMMAND & OTHER IS BY DEVEGOWDA FAMILY. JAI HO BJP.
