Mangaluru, Jan 1: In a protest slamming the lethargic attitude of the elected representatives, Congress leaders held a mock inaugural of Pumpwell flyover with the cutouts of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath and district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, here on Wednesday January 1.

Congress leaders raised slogans against MP Nalin for never ending construction process of Pumpwell flyover. MLC Ivan D’Souza put an onion garland to the cutout of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

MLC Ivan D Souza said, “Nalin has been elected as MP of the district for the third time and NDA government is ruling from the past six years. The MP and MLAs speak about the country and state development, but no one speaks about the development of Mangaluru.

“Pumpwell flyover construction took 10 years and has still not been completed. Earlier in the day, an MLA opposed toll collection, staged protest and forcibly did not allow vehicles to pay toll at Talapady, which means they are violating the toll policy. They have protested today. What about tomorrow? Till when people have to pay toll is the question. I urge BJP leaders to stop this drama as they have fooled people for 10 years.

"The flyover is unscientific. Even the railway underpass which was constructed is unscientific. FIR was filed against the officials of the Navyuga company, but FIR should be filed against MP Nalin. To hide its failures, BJP has filed FIR against the officials. In the month of February, we will gherao the NHAI office,” said Ivan D Souza.
