Bantwal, Oct 8: The annual feast of Monte Mariano Monastery, Farangipet near here was held on Thursday October 8 morning. Monastery houses the Capuchin Friars and novices and was established during 1930, near the serene backdrop of Netravati River.
Mangalore diocesan vicar general Fr Denis Moras Prabhu celebrated the festal Eucharistic Mass at the Monastery chapel here at 10.30 am along with deanery priests, Capuchin, Dominican and Carmelite Friars.
Fr Martis, professor of St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, Mangalore delivered homily. In his message, Fr Martis said that the patron St Francis Assisi of Monastery has set an example in his words and deeds for the faithful to lead life in Christ.
Fr Marits further urged the faithful to lead a spiritual life in the family, which would shape better society, promote peace and harmony among the people.
The chapel was full with the faithful who arrived from across the deanery. The practice has deep-rooted in a few Christian families since many decades, wherein members annually attend the festal mass at the Monastery here.
It was a fanfare on the Monastery premises with many stalls thronged by a large number of people soon after the festal holy mass. It’s also significant that the annual feasts in the entire Mangalore diocese begins after the annual feast of monastery.
