Farm House Looted, Dalit Woman Gang Raped in Greater Noida


Greater Noida, Oct 20 (IANS) About a dozen armed men barged into a farm house here, gang raped a Dalit woman employee and looted cash and jewelry available in the servant quarters Monday night, police said Tuesday.

The men armed with pistols, knives and iron rods raided the farm house owned by Atar Singh Bhati in Kathera area under Dadri police station of Greater Noida, overpowered and tied up all the male members and took all the available cash and jewelry from their quarters.

Afterwards, all the men and children were pushed in a corner but one of the women was stripped in their presence and repeatedly raped by the gang members.

When the woman became unconscious, the criminals fled the spot thinking she had died.

The victims later informed the police. Senior police officers, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A.K. Singh, visited the spot.

"The criminals opted only one woman for rape while there were six women in the farm house. The victim was pregnant and belongs to Dalit community. We have taken some persons into custody but there is no progress in the case so far," Superintendent of Police of Greater Noida Surendra Verma said.
