Dubai, Nov 15: Stacey Victoria Pinto is one of three nominees for the high profile ‘IBDA’A Award’ in the category of non-news journalism.
Launched in 2001, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president, UAE, and Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, the award was initiated by Dubai Media City in association with the International Advertising Association.
Over the years, this honour has attracted a multitude of entries from the Gulf region as well as across the globe. Its success can be seen from the increasing number of entries and participating countries.
More than 2,200 entries from over 20 different countries were received in 2008.
‘IBDA’A Student Awards 2009’ will continue to discover hidden talents of the world’s most creative and skilled youth. Finalists will be flown to Dubai for a gala celebration and can look forward to exciting prizes which also include internships with global media companies.
Stacey is the youngest of three children of well-known Konkani writer Stany Pinto (Stany, Nirude) and Diana Pinto. A final year student of Manipal University, Dubai, Stacey specializes in print journalism under media and communications.
Writing is her passion and she has inherited the fervour from her father who is known for his passionate, romantic, stories in Konkani.
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday November 19, in the form of a gala dinner organized by Dubai Media City.
As a prelude, all nominees from different categories have been called upon to spend the week together before the award ceremony with a view to facilitating an interaction with one another and with global media professionals.
With the support and prayers of her proud parents, brother, sister, relatives, friends and well-wishers, Stacey earnestly awaits this momentous occasion in her life.
